Our Primary Care Associates staff of medical providers includes physicians, physician’s assistants, and nurse practitioners. Please take a moment to get to know them. All of PCA’s physicians are licensed doctors (M.D. or D.O.). They have completed medical school, internship, and residency requirements and have collectively many years of experience. They are committed to providing quality health care for you and your family. Our certified physician’s assistants (PA-C) have successfully completed a program approved by the State Education Department for the training of physician assistants and passed an SED-approved examination. Physician’s assistants are trained by licensed medical doctors. Their training includes laboratory instruction in the basic medical and behavioral sciences followed by clinical rotations. Physician's Assistants can perform medical procedures or tasks that are routinely done within the scope of the supervising physician’s practice. PCA’s nurse practitioners (FNP) embody the art of medicine and the heart of nursing. Nurse practitioners are registered nurses with additional education and training that enable them to provide primary health care services including physical assessments, laboratory and diagnostic procedures, disease prevention and management, and medication administration and management. Nurse practitioners must complete a bachelor’s of science in nursing (or related) degree, complete a master’s degree from a nurse practitioner program, and be a licensed registered nurse. All nurse practitioners specialize in a particular health care area. Specialties include family, adult, geriatric, women’s health, school, or pediatric nursing.
