She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology/Chemistry, with focus on pre-medicine, from the University of North Texas in 2006 and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Tyler in 2009. She is a 2013 graduate of the University of Texas at Tyler Nurse Practitioner program.

Aspen is married with two children. "We are a very active family with rodeo, sports, and chasing our kids around to all the functions they attend." When she has free time she enjoys cooking, fishing, and running.

She decided to go into the nurse practitioner program because "I enjoy the relationships with patients and families. I love that I can be a positive influence in helping them. Medicine is so interesting because you can never learn everything about it and it's always changing."
